As the year draws to a close, I’ve been revisiting one of my favorite Greek myths—the story of Sisyphus. For those unfamiliar, Sisyphus was condemned to roll a boulder up a hill for eternity, only to have it roll back down each time he neared the top. The philosopher Camus saw this as a metaphor for the absurdity of human life—the way we bind ourselves to repetitive tasks or patterns, often ending with the same unfulfilling results and a lingering sense of meaninglessness.
But there’s another way to look at Sisyphus’s story: as a tale of perseverance and determination. Despite endless setbacks, he never stops pushing forward. This perspective reminds us that even when things aren’t going our way, we have the ability to keep going, adapt, and grow. Life is an evolving process, and our challenges can help shape us into something greater—if we allow ourselves the opportunity to pivot and evolve.
Sometimes we just have to pivot a little to make a big change!
As we approach the new year, think of it as a chance to reflect on old patterns and consider how you can break free to create new opportunities. The road forward might not always be easy, but it is full of potential if we’re willing to adapt and embrace change.
Here’s to a year of perseverance, growth, and finding new paths to happiness. 💙
